Well established Ophthalmology clinic founded in 1972 that specializes in Cataract/Cataract Surgery, Glaucoma, Corneal and External Diseases, Oculoplastic, Orbital Diseases, and Neuro-Ophthalmology is seeking a Patient Financial Coordinator to join their passionate and caring team.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The Patient Financial Counselor educates and assists patients with making informed decisions about payment options and financial arrangements regarding their medical bills. Serves as the liaison between patients and their insurance companies to coordinate payments and answers questions from both parties.

· Consult with patients regarding their benefits, coverage and financial options

· Perform aspects of benefit verification and prior authorization

· Provide ongoing financial education and assistance to our patients throughout the continuum of their care, as an educator, advocate, and liaison

· Maintain patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal financial and insurance information

WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE:

· High School Diploma or GED

· 1-2 years insurance experience

· 2-3 years of Clerical Experience

Job Requirements:

  • Verifying patient information and maintaining/filing patient charts
  • Assist physician with patient care
  • Capture patient demographics and insurance information
  • Verify patient demographics and insurance information
  • Performing insurance verification for each patient
  • Verify patients schedules and insurance benefits
  • Confirm treatment plans with all patients
  • Verify patient level of insurance coverage
  • Maintain patient records and pull charts for patient days
  • Send patient registration forms to patient prior to appointment
  • Update patient records, and verify insurance
  • Verify insurance eligibility for all patients
  • Verify patient eligibility and benefit coverage for patients with dental insurance +
  • Make patient appointments and transport arrangements as indicated from new patient orders
  • Verify patient insurance, benefits, obtain referrals for patient visits and reconcile patient balances including bad debt
  • Gather and records patient data
  • Maintain the patient database, patient education folders and status board for clinic patients
  • Perform basic patient care activities to patients in assigned area
  • Coordinate patient care with proper intermediaries or insurance companies
  • Educate patients on office policies
