Front Desk Receptionist

Join Our Team:

Experience summer in beautiful Southern Southeast Alaska! Alaska General Seafoods is a salmon processing facility conveniently located in the city of Ketchikan. Alaska General Seafoods is hiring for the receptionist position to be filled based on relevant experience and start date availability. This is a seasonal summer job at our facility in Ketchikan, Alaska. It requires that you are available to work early June through mid-September.

  • Location: Ketchikan, Alaska
  • Transportation: Paid for by employee. Eligible for end of season bonus to offset cost.
  • Room and Board: Housing and cafeteria onsite and at no charge.
  • Schedule: 7 days a week with a minimum of 11 hours per day. No weekends or days off.
  • Duration: Start date is between June 1st and 15th. You will be expected to work through the end of the season which is typically around September 5th however, it could be earlier or later depending entirely on the salmon harvest.
  • Compensation: Hourly, DOE

Responsibilities And Duties

  • Performing general office duties including processing files and maintaining filing systems and databases, e-mail, mail, faxing, scanning, data entry and answering multi-line phones
  • Complete clerical assignments, must be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite especially Outlook and Excel
  • Communicating/interacting in a professional manner as the initial point of contact for plant visitors, customers, inspectors, employees and fishermen
  • Follow proper protocol for visitors including; checking ID, filling out visitor forms and supplying visitor passes
  • Prepare and process employee paperwork for as many as 300 employees
  • Scan and index invoices in doc-link
  • Handle petty cash, sales and inventory for the small employee store
  • Assisting other office staff with administrative tasks as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications And Skills

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to work productively under pressure and with frequent interruptions
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft office programs
  • Must be receptive to feedback, a fast learner and self-motivated
  • One (1) year office experience preferred
  • Fluent in English
  • Fluency in Spanish a plus
