IT Data Engineer, II

This is a Full-time position in Anchorage, AK posted July 6, 2021.

Essential Duties of Position:75% Data Engineering Functions:
· Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture
· Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
· Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
· Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources.
· Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
· Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.25% Analytics
· Root cause analysis, documenting process
· Expanding job knowledge and attending job specific training
· Educating corporate users on data use, literacy, and governance
· Inspire and foster a positive, results driven, can-do culture.
· In conjunction with department leadership create an environment of collaboration, candor, professionalism, optimism, open and clear communication, inquisitiveness, and problem solving oriented to results.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Ability to Design, Evaluate, and test data infrastructure
· Knowledge/background in software design and principles; agile methodology and continuous integration and delivery.
· Develop/Build IT solutions to meet business requirements.
· Knowledgeable of install and configure solutions.
· Translates business and technical requirements in to test cases, test scenarios, and scripts.
· Ability to develop and/or implement components.
· Performs script maintenance and updates due to changes in requirements or implementations.
· Adheres to standards and procedures.
· Knowledgeable of IT systems; identify errors or deficiencies and develop solutions.
· Communication: Create clear and concise written documentation for a variety of audiences, including developers, business analysts and business users.

Use a blend of written communication techniques, including detailed documentation, diagramming and slide presentations.

Take initiative to initiate communication among teams, including remote team members.

Initiate and deliver presentations to internal groups on domain topics.
· Team Leadership: Lead by example on all fronts.

Guide development teams in a manner that creates success and allows for future self-sufficiency.

Foster innovation and promote teamwork.
· People and Self-Management: Own and manage priorities and individual tasks without direct supervision.

Take ownership and accountability of problems and facilitate finding a solution, involving other groups as necessary.Job Requirements: Must have a comprehensive understanding of software engineering and principles.

Under minimal supervision, work on more complex projects and processes and a has a wide-ranging working knowledge of big data.

Supports the strategic design and maintenance of data pipelines and support for analytics.Additional Technical Competencies:
· Gather business and functional requirements.
· Perform root cause analysis in complex environments.
· SQL and related query tools.
· Experience with at least one programming language.Minimum qualifications:+ Minimum of four years’ experience in any combination listed below:+ Corporate data analytics environment.+ Large database systems such as SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL is highly desirable.+ Real-time analytics and visualization tools.+ Data collection and/or data pipelines.+ High School diploma or equivalent required.+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software/Computer Engineering or related area is required.

Or, in addition to minimum experience required; a combination of relevant work experience and/or education sufficient to perform the duties of the job may substitute to meet the total years required on a year-for-year basis.Certifications: Industry Specific certifications are highly valued and may contribute toward education.Reporting Relationships:Position reports to: TBDNumber of Direct Reports: N/APhysical Requirements: Ability to perform sedentary work.

Physical effort may include stooping, kneeling, touching, feeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

Visual acuity necessary to utilize a computer monitor throughout the course of a normal workday.

Must be able to perform repetitive keyboarding activities and operate general office equipment.

Must be able to communicate verbally in person, over the telephone, and via videoconference.Working Conditions: Most activities conducted inside under pleasant climatic conditions.

Work can be intense and stressful due to time/resource limitations when scheduling multiple tasks with inflexible deadlines.

Working extended hours will be required as needed.

Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the normal business hours to respond to the immediate emergency.

You will be requested to provide an emergency after hours contact numbers.

Travel for business and training purposes may be required.The company and its subsidiaries operate in a 24/7 environment providing critical services to Alaskans and may need to respond to public health and safety matters or other business emergencies.

Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the normal business hours to respond to the immediate emergency.
