GIS Analyst I/II/III State of Alaska Location: Anchorage, Alaska Website: Category: GIS Analyst At the GIS Analyst I level, under the supervision of an engineer, you will use ESRI Software to create maps, digitize new data, integrate CAD with GIS, add GIS data to existing geodatabases, build basic web maps and applications in ArcGIS Online and support the development of infrastructure projects. At the GIS Analyst II level the duties will expand to include development of geodatabases, develop advanced ArcGIS Online applications, utilize ESRI extensions (such as 3D Analyst or Spatial Analyst), and respond to GIS needs from different functional groups. At the GIS Analyst III level this position will be expected to function independently, under minimal supervision and work to streamline processes to improve the delivery of infrastrucure projects. The Work Environment You Can Expect You will be working at the DOT & PF Central Region Office located at 4111 Aviation Avenue, between the Anchorage International Airport and Lake Hood, in Anchorage. You will be part of a highway project development team, and will also have a role larger than the team, collaborating with and supporting many Region functions. Minimum Qualifications GIS Analyst I An associate’s degree from an accredited college that includes either a GIS related concentration, a GIS certificate, or 9 semester hours (12 quarter hours) of GIS-related course work. SUBSTITUTION: Two years of paraprofessional experience working in data collection, cartography, web-site development, GIS operations, or a related field. GIS Analyst II One year of professional experience equivalent to GIS Analyst I with the State of Alaska. AND An associate’s degree from an accredited college that includes either a GIS related concentration, a GIS certificate, or 9 semester hours (12 quarter hours) of GIS-related course work; SUBSTITUTION: Two years of paraprofessional experience working in data collection, cartography, web-site development, GIS operations, or a related field will substitute for the required associate’s degree. SUBSTITUTION: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college that includes either a GIS-related major or minor, a GIS certificate, or 18 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of GIS-related coursework will substitute for the required experience and associate’s degree. GIS Analyst III One year of professional experience equivalent to GIS Analyst II with the State of Alaska. SUBSTITUTION: A master’s degree from an accredited college that includes either a GIS related concentration or a GIS certificate.
