Job InformationOpen to the general public and any current Municipal Employee.This offer of employment is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the International Union of Operating Engineers – Local 302.DEPARTMENT: Solid Waste Services (SWS)HOURS OF WORK: Hours Vary; Monday through Saturday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.LOCATION: Central Transfer Station: 1111 East 56th Avenue and Anchorage Regional Landfill: 15500 East Eagle River Loop RoadThis is Seasonal Full-Time position and will last approximately six (6) months after the date of hire.Example of DutiesPerform traffic control at the Central Transfer Station and/or Anchorage Regional Landfill. Guide vehicles leaving the scales from backing onto the tipping floor and blocking equipment movement. Provide grounds maintenance such as litter cleanup and light facility maintenance at both the Central Transfer Station and Anchorage Regional Landfill. Perform other related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / PreferencesHigh school diploma, GED, or equivalent and must be at least 18 years of age at time of application.Must possess a valid State of Alaska driver’s license at the time of hire.Preferences:* Experience performing general labor activities in inclement weather.Additional Important InformationPreference will be given to returning Seasonal Employees who are eligible for Recall. A background check encompasses criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment.Military Service Interview Preference:Veterans or who wish to be considered for interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D must attach to the application a copy of their DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the US Department of Veterans Affairs recognizing the person as a veteran.
