We are located in Ketchikan, AK. Our busy season is during the salmon season which is June through September, however we are a year round processor with other species during the rest of the year. We are looking for an Business Manager ready to work in an exciting and dynamic environment. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all staff, budgets and operations across Ketchikan and Craig, AK fish processing facilities
  • Oversee day-to-day operations by managing both production and office staff while ensuring that employees work productively and develop professionally
  • Design strategy, set goals for growth and ultimately ensure strategic goals are met by setting operational policies
  • Create and maintain budgets and optimize expenses
  • Set policies and processes across hiring, operations, procurement, company protocol and financial analysis
  • Oversee recruitment and training of new employees across production and office staff
  • Evaluate and improve operations and financial performance by working closely with Financial Controller and Accounting / Finance staff
  • Direct the employee assessment process
  • Prepare regular financial and operational reports for upper management that provide solutions to issues that are raised by company management
  • Ensure staff follows health and safety regulations in correspondence with Federal and State Guidelines

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Required to live in Ketchikan, AK
  • Proven experience in a business manager or similar executive role; preference for experience in seafood or food processing / manufacturing
  • Experience in financial planning and budgeting
  • Knowledge of business process and functions (finance, HR, procurement, operations etc.)
  • Strong analytical and financial ability
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership skills with problem-solving aptitude
  • BSc / BA in Business or relevant field / degree(s)
  • Familiarity with commonly used ERP, accounting and payroll systems. Able to adjust to changes in technology and processes

SKILLS & CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and also as part of a team;
  • Understand business needs and priorities;
